My Firefox Addons (Extensions)


A listing of the firefox addons I use and consider a must have to complete my browsing experience. Yeah, it adds some bloat, but add functionality that outweighs the bloat. Questions? Comments? Know of a killer addon I left out? Am I totally jacked up? Let me know by posting comments!

Better Gmail
- Make Gmail Better with user suggested features
ColorfulTabs
- Make Multiple tabs easier on the eyes
Colorzilla
- Grab the exact color of an object on a webpage (web developing tool)
Extended Copy Menu
- To grab info (text) without all the fancy formatting
Customize Google
- Add some nifty features to Google Search
Del.icio.us Bookmarks
- Social Bookmarking site Tool, Basically, keep all your bookmarks in sync no matter where you are at
Extended Statusbar
- Add some detail to status bar like CPU usuage and Memory Usuage
Greasemonkey
- Allow use of user created customizations for popular websites (post of favorites coming later)
Hide Menubar
- Gain screen real estate by hiding the menubar (You can show it quickly by pressing ALT key)
Locationbar2(Squared)
- Makes address bar more readable by breaking it up into sections
MeasureIt
- Measure on screen actual pixel width of elements (Web Developing Tool)
PDF Download
- Add extra options when viewing a PDF file such as save, view in browser, etc
StatusbarEx
- Some extra detail such as page load time, image total, transfer rate, etc
StumbleUpon
- To truly surf the web. Give it your interests, press stumble, find awesome sites related to your interests, user contributed.
Web Developer
- Tool to see DIV borders, table layouts, extract CSS, validate page, etc (Web Developer Tool)
Stop Autoplay
- To stop the annoying autoplay songs like on MySpace or from stumbles (sometimes this extension causes issues with certain sites, I leave it disabled until I go on facebook or myspace)

Other:

Turn off IP6 DNS Lookup
- Speed up DNS Lookups
1. In the Firefox Location bar, enter about:config.
2. In the displayed list, enter network.dns.disableIPv6 in the Filter textbox.
3. Find the network.dns.disableIPv6 preference. The value should be true.
4. If the value is false, right-click it and select Toggle.
5. Close Firefox, then start it again, and try to connect.

Small Icons
- Gain Screen Real Estate
1. Right Click Toolbar, select "Customize", checkmark the small icons box.

- Configuration to gain screen real estate
1. Right Click toolbar, select "Customize", drag buttons to and fro, make pretty


Foldershare to keep in Sync (No Google Gears!) - (Windows Only)
- Keep your Firefox extension in sync from PC to PC, but do not install Google Gears as this will break it (at the time of this writing - too long file names) Ironic using a Microsoft product to help a direct Microsoft competitor.

  1. Here is another Firefox extension from Youlicit.com you should check out. They find you similar sites to the one you're visiting. It's like StumbleUpon and Del.icio.us combined. Their search results are pretty interesting too. They are still in beta, but I find it useful.

  2. firefox make my computer "exhausted", too many resource memory used.
    i only use adblock, fasterfox.
    i install / uninstall some/other addon when i dont need it
